Fruit Juicer Reviews For The Health Conscious Kitchen

For those who are serious about improving their diet and the quality of their life, a fruit juicer is a necessary piece of kitchen equipment. There are several different models on the market at a wide range of prices.

For straight fruit juicing, a centrifugal fruit juicer is usually more than adequate.

Here, we will look at four different centrifugal juicers and compare their features:

The first juicer under review is the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer classic. Almost everyone has heard of Jack Lalanne. He is the 91 year old “Godfather of Health and Fitness”. He markets his juicers via the internet and infomercials on television. Let’s see how the classic model measures up to its claims.

This is one of the quietest centrifugal juicers available. With some, it is necessary to wear earplugs while operating, but this one is very quiet. It is claimed that the Power Juicer is able to extract thirty percent more juice than other centrifugal juicers.

This claim is difficult to prove or disprove due to the number of variables involved, such as the type of fruit or vegetable being juiced and quantity being loaded into the machine.

Two drawbacks to this model include the fact that it drips after the juicing process is completed and the glass is removed. This can lead to staining of the countertop where the machine is used. The white plastic parts are also prone to staining, especially when dark fruits and vegetables, such as carrots are put through it.

Another model, the Power Juicer Deluxe, has all of the benefits of the classic juicer version without the cons. Being made of stainless steel, this model is not prone to staining. In addition, this model has added a no drip feature that protects the counters.

If one is looking for a larger, more powerful juicer, The Breville Juice Fountain Elite is a good choice. To be honest, though both are centrifugal juicers, this one is in a completely different class than the Jack Lalanne.

The Breville features a thousand watt motor made in Italy that is capable of cranking out 13000 rpm. This high speed is excellent for juicing hard fruits and vegetables such as carrots or pineapples with the skin on. For softer fruits and vegetables, there is a switch that allows one to run at half speed to extract the most juice.

There is a small difference in the locking bar that holds the plastic lid down that can cause some scratching if care is not exercised. In addition, running at high speed can cause some spraying that leads to a messy workspace and wastes some of the juice.

The Acme 6001 juicer is another centrifugal juicer that has some good features. It only runs at one speed, however. The price places this model somewhere between the Lalanne juicers and the Breville.

In truth, this model is probably slightly overpriced for the work it does. However, it does extract virtually all the juice from whatever produce is put through it, so it is still a healthy choice when one considers a fruit juicer as a means to improving health.
